In a significant step towards strengthening healthcare infrastructure in rural Goa, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant inaugurated an Operation Theatre and Interventional Laser Vein Treatment Services at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Bicholim.

The inauguration marks another milestone in the State Government's commitment to making modern, quality healthcare accessible to people in every corner of Goa, particularly in rural areas.

Among those present on the occasion were Bicholim MLA Dr Chandrakant P Shetye, Mayem MLA Premendra Shet, former Speaker Rajesh Patnekar, Chief Medical Officer (NCDC), Directorate of Health Services, Dr Sandesh Madkaikar, Interventional Laser Vein Specialist Dr Rajaram Mahambrey, Health Officer of CHC Bicholim Dr Siddhi Kansar, along with senior health officials, doctors, medical staff and a large gathering of local residents.

Addressing the gathering, Sawant said that the Government's primary objective is to ensure that every citizen of Goa has access to advanced and quality healthcare services within their own village.

"Rural healthcare centres should be as well-equipped as those in urban areas, and the Government is continuously investing in modern infrastructure, advanced medical technology and skilled healthcare professionals. The Operation Theatre Complex and Interventional Laser Vein Treatment Centre at Bicholim CHC will greatly benefit thousands of people across North Goa by providing timely and specialised treatment locally," the Chief Minister said.

Speaking on the occasion, Bicholim MLA Dr Chandrakant Shetye expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane for fulfilling a long-pending demand of the people of Bicholim.

"For several years, residents of Bicholim have been seeking advanced healthcare facilities closer to home. These facilities will significantly reduce the need for patients from Bicholim, Mayem and nearby villages to travel outside for specialised treatment," Dr Shetye said.

Mayem MLA Premendra Shet lauded the State government for extending world-class healthcare services to rural Goa.

Following the inauguration, the chief minister and other dignitaries inspected the newly commissioned Operation Theatre and were briefed by doctors on the sophisticated equipment installed for the Interventional Laser Vein Treatment Services.
