Besides, a total of 166 cases have been registered under Section 34 of the Indian Police Act during this period.
Offenders were issued challans under Sub-Section (1) of Section 9A of the Goa Tourist Places (Protection and Maintenance) Act, 2001.
“Drinking in public places is a punishable offence under the Goa Tourist Places (Protection and Maintenance) Act, 2001. Strict action against violators will continue. Locals and tourists have been urged to comply with the law and consume alcohol only in designated areas,” the SP said.
