A demolition of a residential house at Fatorda along the road widening area gave some anxious moments for the demolition team as the owner, his wife and children locked the entrance gate from inside, seeking time to shift their belongings.
The demolition team later had its way when they razed down only a portion of the house after convincing the owner to see reason as there’s no stay on the demolition exercise. Armed with a court order, the demolition squad comprising Salcete Mamlatdar Joao Fernandes, PWD Assistant Engineer Armstrong Fernandes, Fatorda PI Navlesh Desai descended at the residential house on Tuesday morning to raze down the structure. The owner, however, prevented the entry of the team by locking the entrance gate to the house.
Heated discussions ensued between the owner and the PWD assistant engineer, who contended that the High Court has already disposed of the petition filed by the owner in May last in favour of the authorities.
After much discussions, the owner later yielded and allowed the demolition squad to demolish a portion of the structure, informed Salcete Mamlatdar Joao Fernandes.
