Days after a portion of concrete came crashing down at a building in Feira Baixa, Mapusa, the Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) has sent a notice to the building owners and occupants to vacate the premises within seven days.
A shopkeeper had sustained minor injuries while four vehicles were damaged when a portion of concrete came crashing down on June 7.
Following the incident, the MMC sent a notice to the building owners and occupants to vacate the damaged Koskar and Kesarkar building within seven days, given the risk it posts to life and property.
Copies of the notice have been sent to the collector, deputy collector, director of urban development, mapusa fire brigade officer and mapusa police inspector.
The MMC has also directed the barricading of the premises and has warned owners and occupants of the building that if the order is not acted upon within 7 days from the date of receipt of the notice, necessary action will be initiated in public interest and to protect life and property.
