SANGUEM
A private minibus carrying passengers from Sanguem and proceeding towards Curchorem got stuck in a manhole at Cacora-Curchorem.
The stranded passengers later boarded the next bus to reach their destinations.
The bus was on its way to Curchorem when the front wheels got stuck in the loose mud in the manhole which was recently dug as part of ongoing sewage works.
With both front wheels stuck in the manhole, the driver had no option but to seek assistance of a crane to tow the bus from the manhole.
After being informed of the incident, Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral rushed to the spot and was seen personally diverting vehicles caught in the traffic jam.
Speaking to reporters, Cabral informed that such incidents are likely to happen on account of the type of soil at certain places which causes the soil to cave in.
Cabral, however, informed that due care would be taken to get the repair work done on war footing.
Incidentally, this is not the first incident that vehicles have got stuck in manholes at Curchorem. Similar incidents were earlier reported from the town area, causing hardship to the motorists and commuters.
