MARGAO: The United Tribal Association Alliance (UTAA) has urged Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to take up with Prime Minister Narenrdra Modi the issue of political reservations for the Scheduled Tribes.
Congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi for assuming office as Prime Minister for the third term, the UTAA tribal Chief has exuded confidence that the BJP government under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi will fulfill the long standing demand of political reservations for the tribal people of Goa.
“The Union Cabinet had taken a decision to bring a Bill in Parliament after the BJP returns to power after the 2024 LoK Sabha election. Since Prime Minister Modi has returned back to power, I request our Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to take up the demand of the tribal people for political reservations for the scheduled tribe communities”, he said
The UTAA chief said the organisation has held meetings at the taluka level in most of the talukas as part of the program to go to the village wards to ascertain the issues plaguing the tribal people. “Today, we had a meeting of the Salcete taluka tribal leaders and groups. We have taken stock of the situation whether the government schemes have reached to the door steps of the tribals. And, the issues plaguing the tribal communities”, Velip said.
He said a shibir has been planned at Ponda taluka on Sunday to deliberate further on the issues facing the tribal communities.
