Paddy cultivation destroyed in heavy rains in Canacona

CANACONA
Paddy cultivation in Canacona taluka were destroyed in heavy rains for the past few days, causing an approximately loss of around two lakhs of rupees.

According to sources, Chief Conservator of Forest Keshav Kumar held an inspection of the damaged paddy cultivation alongwith with the Canacona Deputy Collector Udhay Prabhudessai, Canacona Mamlatdar Vimod Dalal, Canacona Zonal Agriculture Officer Kirtiraj Naikgaunkar and others.

The inspection was carried out in Cotigao, Gaondongrim and Galgibaga areas as farmers complained of their crops damaged due to heavy rains in the past few days have either washed away or the freshly re-planted remained inundated in floodwaters for long.

Canacona ZAO informed the losses are however minimal and it could be anything around Rs 2 lakh in some of the places.

The joint inspection was carried out especially at Satorlim, Pansulesmoll 

and Fulamoll of Gaondongrim village, and besides the paddy cultivation, some farmers suffered losses due to damaged horticulture produce.
