The depiction of Lord Ganesh in Shivaji Maharaj Fort and the Matoli consisting of 108 different fruits and vegetables by Padkar family, bagged the first prize at the Ganpati idol decoration and Matoli contest jointly organised by the Gaondongrim Panchayat and village Bio-diversity Management Committee.
Padkar family of Indrawada (Gaondongrim) was awarded a cash prize of Rs 4,000 at the hands of Gaondongrim Sarpanch Suman Gaonkar in a brief function held on Monday.
The second prize of Rs 3000 was bagged by Aditya Gaonkar family, also from Indrawada (Gaondongrim) for the eco-friendly decoration and their Ganpati idol will be worshipped for 7 days, while the third place cash award of Rs 2000 was awarded to Velip family of Badsarem.
Four consolation cash prizes of Rs 1000 each were also awarded to Abhay Gaonkar (Indrawada), Munshikar family (Indrawada), Velip family (Chal) and Ashok Velip (Talem).
Gaondongrim Panchayat in association with the village Bio-diversity Management Committee had organised the Ganesh chaturthi Matoli and Decoration competition to create awareness on protection of nature and promote bio-diversity in the village, during annual Ganeshotsav celebrations.
