Delta Infralogistics (Worldwide) Limited (DIWL) has created a new record yet again at Karwar port. This time the DIWL has brought the biggest ship at Karwar port.
According to information, Pan Energen is the biggest ship in the history of Karwar port to dock there.
“The ship Pan Energen arrived carrying bauxite and is handled by Delta Worldwide Inc and the Stevedores of the DIWL. The vessel has arrived with 66,000 metric tons of bauxite for Hindalco Industries limited. The length of the ship is 229 mtrs and the ship has discharged part of the bauxite at Karwar anchorage and the rest on the berths at Karwar port,” said a source.
When contacted, Suresh Shetty, Port officer of Karwar Port, said that bauxite was an alternate cargo being handled at Karwar port.
“The ship is indeed the biggest ship as of now to arrive at Karwar port. 36,000 metric tons of Bauxite was off-loaded at sea in the anchorage with the help of 6 barges of the V M Salgaoancar group of Vasco and the remaining 30,000 metric tons of cargo was discharged at berths,” Shetty said.
“We are glad that we are having a new cargo to handle here which also helps in generating revenue for the port. Barges also get business and we look at bauxite as a long term cargo. As of now we have discharged around 4 ship loads of bauxite cargo. The total quantity of bauxite discharged here till date is around 2.35 lakhs metric tons,” he added.
