Panaji promenade project sets off
PANAJI: The MLA of Panaji, Siddharth Kuncalienkar, on Saturday, laid the foundation stone for the Rs 15 crore project for 'rejuvenation of Mandovi river promenade,' a project taken up under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) by the Goa State Infratsurcture Development Corporation (GSIDC). Several corporators of the Corporation of the City of Panaji were present at the occasion.
Speaking after the foudnation stone laying ceremony, Kuncalienkar said that the aim of the project is two-pronged - strengthening of the Mandovi river edge and to offer recreational space to the city-dwellers.
"This 1.6 km promenade will have features such as a 3.5 mts wide cycle track, renovation and developing of the senior citizens park near the swimming pool among others. The project is being undertaken by GSIDC and is scheduled to be completed within six months," he said.
The promenade will run along the banks of the river from the swimming pool to the youth hostel and cover three wards of the CCP.
