PANAJI: With trade and tourism activities opening up in the State, Covid positive cases in the capital are also increasing by the day. Panaji municipal area is continuing to be one of the main contributors to Covid-19 tally, with 5 per cent of the State’s positive cases being reporting from the city.
On Thursday total of 42 positive cases were reported -- highest single-day spike yet in the city area so far. Out of active 4000-odd active cases, 200 odd active cases are from Panaji.
For the last four days, cases have crossed the century mark. Businessmen, hoteliers, waiters, bakery staff, casino crew, pharmacists are among those in the positive list.
The positive cases have been reported from all parts of the city which include Bhatlem, Caranzalem, Mahalaxmi area, Miramar, government quarters at Patto and Altinho and also in Ribandar. Several cases were also detected in major residential complexes in the city.
