Panaji restaurant sealed for operating without pollution board consent

MAPUSA

The district administration on Tuesday sealed M/s Basseraa Dormitory and Restaurant at Campal Trade Centre, Panaji, after it was found to be operating without the mandatory consent to operate from the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB).

According to officials, the establishment was functioning in violation of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981.

The action followed a complaint lodged by Krishna Pandit, a resident of Porvorim.

The GSPCB had earlier, on August 25, issued a notice directing the management to shut operations until it secured the necessary consent.

However, as the directive was ignored, the Collector’s office moved in and sealed the premises.
