After being earlier accused of lack of pace and direction, the Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) appears to be focused and back on track with the new Managing Director Ravi Dhavan and a new board of directors.
The IPSCDL on Friday held a detailed presentation for corporators regarding works to be taken up in the city.
The implementing agencies like GSUDA, PWD, GSIDC, WRD, etc gave presentations of the work which has been started and being planned and executed in one or two years, with tenders already being allotted.
Beautification of Patto and the City entrance with some projects like garden, footbridge and linking roads are in the priority list of projects under the Smart City Mission.
The two roads from the old Patto Bridge to Four Pillars junction, Mala and the entire 3-km stretch between St Inez and Miramar will have concrete roads with cable ducts and high masts.
The projects will be implemented through Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA) at a cost of around Rs 120 crore.
The Patto area, where a garbage dump is presently located, will be developed as a garden, while beautification of the entrance point of the City near Santa Monica jetty will also be taken up.
Besides, there will be a pedestrian link connecting Patto's Central Library to Mala area. Students from schools in Mala and people from the area can walk directly to the Central Library through the bridge.
WRD officials said the Mala area water logging issue would be tackled by installing additional pumping stations.
Presently, 200 HP pumps are operating at the site, but they are inadequate to solve the issue.
Councillors also made some suggestions during the presentation.
The Campal walkway along the river will be completed soon, with additional work in two phases to be undertaken soon.
