The Shiroda Panchayat on Friday wrote to the health department seeking its intervention to cancel the deputation order of medical officer Dr Vijeyeta Naik and to retain him at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Karai-Shiroda.
On Thursday, around 40 locals had gathered at PHC at Karai-Shiroda to express their objection over the absence of the medical officer Dr Vijeyeta Naik, after learning that he was transferred to Cansaulim.
The locals have demanded the revocation of the transfer order and have asked Shiroda PHC Health Officer Dr Freda Fernandes e Da Costa to convey their sentiments to seniors.
On Friday, locals again gathered in large numbers to place their demands for a second time. A police force was deployed at PHC and locals dispersed from the site only submitting a memorandum. Speaking to The Goan, Shiroda Sarpanch Amit Shirodkar said he has a written letter to the health department to revoke the deputation order in public interest.

Incidentally, one of the signatories of the motion included sister-in-law of sarpanch and former deputy sarpanch Sonu de Araujo.
The other panchas who signed the no trust motion included Lafira de Oliveira, Nilesh Kankonkar, Shilpa Bandodkar, Disha Kavlekar and Antonio Edwin Dias.
The reasons outlined against the sarpanch included not taking the panchas into confidence. Attempts to contact the sarpanch proved futile as several calls made to him went unanswered.
