Panel formed to ensure wetlands are not polluted

The Department of Science Technology and Environment has constituted an expert committee to ensure that untreated/partially treated sewage or industrial effluents may not be disposed in wetlands.

The expert committee will function under the aegis of the Director of Environment who will be the Convenor as well as the member secretary as well as has as members, officials including the Chief Town Planner, the Director of Panchayats, the Director of Municipal Administration or their representatives, the member secretary of the Goa State Biodiversity Board, the Member Secretary of the Goa State Pollution Control Board and a representative of the Goa State Council for Science and Technology.
Besides this non official members include Goa University professor Dr G N Nayak and Vinod Dhargalkar a former scientist of the National Institute of Oceanography.

MAPUSAThe Tivim Panchayat has decided to crack the whip and punish a careless fish vendor, who was caught red-handed dumping waste in its area.
