A book “DIY (Do It Yourself) Filmmaking: A Toolkit for Digital Filmmakers” written by Goa’s multifaceted filmmaker, photographer, writer, and voiceover artist Sainath Rajaram Parab was released on Sunday.
The honour of releasing the book was done by Chief Minister of Goa Pramod Sawant. The occasion was graced by Pramod Acharya (Editorial Director, Prudent Media), Adv Yatish Nayak, Sankalp Parab, and the publisher of the book Vidhya Shikerkar Ghaisas.
The foreword to the book is written by Prasad Lolayekar, IAS, who has described it as a “guiding lighthouse” blending practical knowledge with artistic insight. The book has also been acknowledged and appreciated by acclaimed Marathi filmmaker Sandeep Sawant for its contribution to independent cinema and young storytellers.
What makes this book even more significant is that it is the first of its kind on this subject and will also prove useful under the National Education Policy (NEP) curriculum, which now includes various filmmaking skills as part of its creative and vocational education.
This book is not just a technical manual but a reflection of Sainath’s lived experiences, cultural roots, and deep love for storytelling. It offers step-by-step guidance through the journey of filmmaking ; from scriptwriting and pre-production to cinematography, editing, sound, and final mastering.
The release of this book is a cultural milestone for Goa, showing that stories told with sincerity and passion always find their way into people’s hearts.
