MMC has also decided to prohibit all vehicles inside the market except on market day on Friday.
MMC will charge Rs 2 for two-wheelers per hour and Rs 4 for four-wheeler per hour. The vehicles will be allowed to park only in the pay-parking spaces and no vehicles will be allowed to enter the market.
The open space behind MMC will also be utilised for pay-parking and a tender of Rs 23.90 lakh has been floated. Parking fee will also be imposed at Mapusa taxi stand and for that a tender of Rs 5.50 lakh has been floated.
MMC Chairperson Sandeep Falari said the council has initiated the step to fulfill the demands of Mapusa traders’ association. “Pay parking will help to tackle haphazard parking in the market.”
