A 19-year-old youth from Parsem drowned while swimming in a stone quarry at Chaudevwada-Parsem on Sunday.

the goan I networkrPERNEM r The incident occurred at about 12.15 pm when Namdev Polji, along with his friends, had gone for a swim in the quarry. While swimming, Polji started struggling in deep waters. His friends raised an alarm which alerted some workers. rSources said the workers dived and removed Polji out of the water. He was rushed to Tuem Health Centre where he was declared dead. Pernem police conducted the panchanama and sent his body to GMC. It was later handed over to his family to conduct the final rites.
Better late than never. The Congress party has begun discussion in the right earnest to finalise its Rajya Sabha candidate with just day until the last day to file nominations for the post.
