Better late than never. The Congress party has begun discussion in the right earnest to finalise its Rajya Sabha candidate with just day until the last day to file nominations for the post.
the goan I networkrPANAJIr rSpeaking to The Goan, Congress observer A Chella Kumar said that meetings are on among the MLAs as well as with the party’s central leadership. r“We are definitely going to field our candidate for the Rajya Sabha polls and we will also ensure that he wins,” Chella Kumar told The Goan. rChella Kumar is currently down in the state to help the local leadership thrash out a leader. rIt is reliably learnt that the state Congress leadership is deliberating four of five names which include businessman Suraj Lotlikar, who is a new face besides party old timers in the form of Ramakant Khalap and Jitendra Deshprabhu while former Lok Sabha MP Ramakant Angle is also a name being angled about. rPernem royal Jitendra Deshprabhu, while speaking to The Goan said that his name was in the fray but would respect the party’s decision. r“If my name is chosen, I will contest. Whatever the party decides, whether it results in a win or a sacrifice for the party,” Deshprabhu said. r“My name is in the discussion and I do not know what will happen tomorrow,” Deshprabhu said.
