A portion of the FL Gomes road near IOC junction which was closed due to work on the Up Ramp construction has been temporarily opened to public for the next seven days, in view of the 125th Damodar Bhajani Saptah festival set to commence on August 10.

Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar, alongside Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson Girish Borkar and other officials, opened the road for public use after convening a joint inspection on site.

Speaking to reporters, Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar said as the Damodar Bhajani Saptah festival begins, the city of Vasco is gearing up to welcome an influx of visitors, and the temporary road opening was a step towards ensuring a hassle-free celebration.

“Last year, the traditional furniture shops were relocated, causing them inconvenience due to the ongoing Up-Ramp construction. After discussions with Gammon India officials and follow-ups by our MMC Chairperson, we ensured that heavy traffic could use the FL Gomes road. This will help decongest traffic in Vasco. The road has been temporarily tarred to facilitate smooth traffic flow for the next seven days,” said Salkar.
