Bringing the Delhi concept of mohala clinics, AAP’s manifesto highlights the concept of vaddo clinics proposing to set up 400 of these clinics to provide free treatment, medicines and testing. Additionally, they also propose to set up a polyclinic, multi-specialty hospital and super-specialty hospital with digital referral systems linked to vaddo clinics.
Free annual health check up for women and senior citizens at AAP’s flagship vaddo clinics along with special sessions for women for creating awareness on nutrition, health and expert counseling for stress related conditions and a women only wings at all hospitals. Special focus they said would be on oncology, palliative care, maternity (Obstetric) services, gynaecology, pre and post natal care.
They like the Congress have also proposed to upgrade GMC, Hospicio and Asilo Hospital to an AIIMS like structure incentivizing doctors to work in remote areas. They have also proposed new state-of-the-art ambulance, free health insurance scheme for low income households and rehabilitation centres for curbing alcoholism and drug addiction problems.
Congress on the other hand, aims to restore and enhance funding for cancer, AIDS and drug abuse rehabilitation and create a separate cell to provide free service, therapy and healthcare for people with special needs, differently abled and senior citizens.
They’ve also promised to have state-of-the-art health services like dialysis, physiotherapy, rapid diagnostics and pathology labs for all citizens at every taluka hospital.
Going back to grassroots and highlighting alternative medicine, GSM and MGP in their manifestos said they would provide sufficient number of doctors, equipments and medicines at Primary Health Centres. They have also said they would supplement these PHCs with ayurvedic and homeopathy doctors in addition to the allopathic doctors.
They have also proposed to allot extra funds to municipalities and panchayats and to set up trauma centers in Ponda, Curchorem, Margao, Vasco and Mapusa.
For the ruling side, the BJP have taken the success of the Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana (DDSSY) as their main achievement and have said they would strengthen it by extending it to government servants.
In addition, they have promised to make the Margao district hospital functional within two years, and introduce additional super-specialty facility for cancer treatment at GMC. They too have said they will implement all central government schemes and projects of the AYUSH department and ensure optimal management of all government health care institutions and schemes including 108 ambulances.
