Parulekar, who was summoned to remain present before the lower court on Saturday, filed a writ petition before the HC. The HC , after hearing the arguments, has granted interim relief to Parulekar. The matter has now been fixed on June 27 for reply of the police investigating team.
The lower court has previously issued process in the case against Parulekar and the other two accused, the then attorney of Comunidade of Serula Peter Martins and then Administrator of Comunidade of Bardez Irene Sequeira. In December last year, the court while rejecting the plea of the CB to close the case against Parulekar had taken cognizance of the complaint filed by Adv Aires Rodrigues.
On a petition filed by Adv Rodrigues, the Mapusa JMFC on January 16, 2014, had directed the Porvorim police to register an FIR against former Tourism Minister Parulekar, Peter Martins and Irene Sequeira for offences under sections of IPC. The investigation of the case was later transferred to the Crime Branch.
Adv Rodrigues in his complaint had drawn the Court’s attention that the 599 sq mts of prime land on the Chogm Road at Porvorim was given away to Dilip Parulekar without any auction and without following the procedure contemplated under the Code of Comunidades and that the whole intention was to fraudulently facilitate doling out prime Communidade land to Dilip Parulekar.
