According to Ponda fire station personnel, they received a call informing about the incident at Durbhat.
"We were informed that a ferry boat got stuck in the water and it will be pulled with the help of another ferry. It was not a case of sinking," a fire personnel said while confirming the incident.
Sandeep Naik, who witnessed the incident, told The Goan that though police and fire brigade were informed about the incident, nobody turned up there.
"Almost two hours passed, but no one turned up here," Naik
Sources informed that the incident occurred when the ferry boat was leaving towards Rassai.
It turned towards the ramp and the commuters were left stranded in the ferry for over two hours.
The ferry workers tried to pull the ferry with the help of another ferry, but it could not help. The incident added woes as it was low tide in the evening.
At about 7 pm, the fire personnel reached the site and helped the
commuters to come out of the ferry using ladder and other equipments.
