Former Congress Minority Chairman Nazir Khan on Monday demanded the resignation of GPCC President Amit Patkar for his failure to hold the Congress MLAs from jumping into the BJP.
Speaking to media persons at a news conference, Khan said the Congress party was finished and alleged that the other three MLAs would soon desert the Congress as well.
“When I convened a news conference to warn the Congress about plans of the MLAs switching over to the BJP, they sent me a show-cause notice and I had to offer my resignation. I was one of the first to warn the Congress about these MLAs, but they humiliated me for speaking the truth.”
“Now that the MLAs are gone, who will send a show-cause notice to GPCC President Amit Patkar? He must gracefully resign from his post for his failure to hold the MLAs together and try to keep the other MLAs intact who are likely to leave the Congress after the Lok Sabha elections,” said Khan.
Khan claimed that the entire congress was responsible for the political developments. “BJP is not at fault because they have the money and will definitely use money power, but our shameless Congress MLAs have fallen bait and have been sold. These MLAs could have respected the mandate and fought as the opposition but these MLAs betrayed the people.”
“These same MLAs who would agitate against the BJP on various issues, including fuel rise, religious riots and commodities rise, are now praising BJP and their PM Narendra Modi and how can they answer the people now?”
Nazir said the Congress could have been a very strong opposition with 11 MLAs in hand.
