Patriotic singing conducted in Ponda

PONDA: 'Mile Sur Mera Tumhara' a song composed by Ashok Patki in 1988 promoting the national integrity and unity in diversity, was sung by the students of A J De Almeida HS at Ponda.

The students were applauded for singing the song which has 15 languages.

‘Jara Yaad Karo Kurbani’, a programme of patriotic songs organized by Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir, explored the talent of students from the school who made efforts to understand and give exact accent of languages other than Hindi and Marathi.

The students were guided by music teacher, Mukta Bhonsle (vocal) and Suhas Shilkar (tabla). The song is penned in Assamese, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kashmiri, Punjabi, Haryanvi, Sindhi, Urdu, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Oriya, Gujrati and Marathi.

Dada Vaidya HS, V D and S V Wagale HS, SS Samiti's Smt IVBD HS, A J De Almeida HS, Kesarbai Kesarkar HS, Lokmanya HS, MIBK and Saraswati HS participated in the programme.

THE GOAN NETWORK VASCO Miscreants damaged two vehicles belonging to Mormugao Congress leader Sankalp Amonkar at Dabolim and a Congress supporter from Mormugao. According to reports, the rear windscreen of an Innova vehicle owned by Amonkar was smashed with a laterite stone outside his house in Dabolim.
