In a disturbing turn of events, a minor girl who had accused the Physical Education teacher of molesting her has quit going to her school in Marcaim more than a month after the unsavoury incident.
Her younger sister too has stopped going to the school, reportedly because of the related trauma the siblings are going through.
The police registered an FIR in the matter on Monday and called in the PE teacher for investigation after a complaint hand-written by the victim girl was submitted at the Mardol police station on Monday. She was taken to the police station by her parents.
In addition to the hand-written complaint of the victim girl, her parents too have submitted their complaint to the Mardol police.
Sources said that the aggrieved girl had complained about the incident to the school's principal but for over a month now no action was taken against the PE teacher, although he was initially disallowed to attend his duties in the school for about a week.
The victim girl in her complaint has also claimed that the incident took place about a month ago when she was seated on the last bench answering an exam and was molested by the PE teacher from behind.
She narrated the story to one of her teachers but there appeared to be no action taken to bring the PE teacher to book after which she complained to the principal, who restricted him from attending work or signing the muster roll for six days.
Later, the PE teacher was allowed to rejoin work triggering allegations from the family and others that the school management is being accused of protecting him under political influence.
Meanwhile Vishwesh Naik of the Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) who had accompanied the family to the Mardol police station, accused the school management of not following the procedures mandated by law in such cases.
