A rare and surprising incident occurred in Nagzar, Pernem, when a peacock entered the residence of Mahendra Babaji Chyari during Satyanarayan Puja held before Lord Ganesh.
As devotees gathered for the ritual, the bird suddenly walked through the crowd and stood directly in front of the Ganesh idol. Witnesses were amazed, calling it a “divine moment” as the peacock is regarded as the vehicle of Lord Kartikeya, the brother of Lord Ganesh.
The sight drew villagers and onlookers in large numbers, with many queuing at Chyari’s house to witness the unusual scene. Some people even clicked selfies with the bird, which appeared calm and unafraid despite the crowd.
Locals recalled that peacocks often roam in the nearby forests and sometimes venture close to human settlements. However, its presence during the auspicious ritual left people calling it a rare sign.
Journalist Mahadev Chyari, who was present, noted how the peacock responded gently when approached. The bird later re-entered the house and once again stood near the Ganesh idol, further surprising the crowd.
The incident has since become the talk of the village, with residents debating whether it was mere coincidence or a divine message.
