Pedestrian dies in road mishap in Pernem

An 83-year-old pedestrian died of injuries after being struck by a motorcycle while crossing the road on the highway in Pernem late Tuesday night.

According to Pernem Police Inspector Sachin Lokre, Digambar Arondekar was crossing the road on the highway near Mauli Temple at Porascadem, when he was knocked down by a motorcycle.

The motorcycle was driven by John Lobo (31) of Tambosem-Pernem while he was proceeding from Naibag side towards Patradevi. Lobo also sustained injuries in the mishap

Arondekar was admitted to Goa Medical College, but died while undergoing treatment.

Pernem police conducted the panchanama of the accident and registered a case against Lobo in this connection. Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Prathamesh Parsekar under the guidance of PI Lokre.
