Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run accident near Margao hospital

A pedestrian died on the spot on Monday after he was knocked down by a speeding car in a hit-and-run case near the South Goa District Hospital, Margao.
The incident occurred at around 2.28 am at Davondem, near the district hospital, when the unknown driver of the four-wheeler was proceeding from KTC Margao towards Verna.
Police said that the vehicle driver, while driving the car in a rash and negligent manner, endangering human life without ensuring proper care and caution, hit the unknown male pedestrian who was crossing the road near SGDH Margao.
The driver of the car fled the accident spot without giving medical aid to the injured person and without informing the police.
Due to the impact, the pedestrian sustained grievous bodily injuries and was declared dead on the spot.
