Pending cases: Goa has the least in India

Goa can boast of having the least pendency of civil and criminal cases in the State making up a mere 0.17 per cent of the 2.55 crore cases pending all over the country.

The figures regularly maintained by the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG) has revealed that Goa has a pendency of 43,790 cases of which 25,011 are civil cases while 18,779 are criminal cases.
Of these 1932 cases are pending for more than ten years a bulk of which or 1827 are civil cases, while only 105 are criminal cases. 3972 cases are pending for periods ranging between five to ten years while 12567 are pending for periods ranging between two to five years. The others 25,319 cases -- around half the total pending cases -- are pending for less than two years.
There datagrid keeps track of all cases ranging from lower courts to the High Court state wise in a bid to keep track of the number of cases pending across the country.

Govt may agree to set up NGT circuit bench in Goa

The State government has been given until Friday to submit its affidavit on the bunch of petitions, including the suo motu petition after failing to submit its say in the case against bringing Goa under the jurisdiction of the principal bench of the NGT in New Delhi.
