He may be the one currently in the spolight for his controversial acquital in the black buck poaching case, but Salman Khan is not the only bad boy in Bollywood. From rape charges to rash driving and drug posession, Bollywood is in fact full of actors who have found themselves on the wrong side of the law. Here are a few noteworthy names that made it to the black list
Madhur Bhandarkar
The debate about the prevalence of the casting couch in Indian cinema has been an ongoing one. And this issues was brought to the fore yet again in 2004 when struggling actress Preeti Jain accused national award winning director Madhur Bhandarkar of raping her over the course of five years on the pretext of marrying her and casting her in a film. Madhur on his part stated that Preeti had blackmailed him into offering a role within 48 hours failing which she would file a case against him. However the director was allowed to walk free after the case was quashed after Preeti withdrew the case in 2011.
Sanjay Dutt
Earlier this year, Sanjay Dutt was in the news after he was released from Yerawada jail, Pune where he served his sentence following his involvement in the 1993 serial blasts in Mumbai. The actor was arrested and jailed under the TADA (Prevention Act) for illegal possession of firearms. However his prison term was not without it's own controversies with questions being raised about the number of days he was allowed to stay out of jail on paroles and furloughs.
Shiney Ahuja
The actor who shot to fame following his performance in Gangster was accused of raping the domestic help in 2009. Although the maid went back on her charges later, the circumstantial evidence was sufficient for the court to hold the actor guilty. The actor who has since been release from prison was however miffed with the makers of Great Grand Maasti for naming the character that plays the domestic help in the film after his name.
Aditya Pancholi
This actor has courted controvery time and again especailly for his extra marital affairs with Kangana Ranaut being the most publiced of the lot. Following drininking problems, the actor was also said to have beaten up his wife Zarina Wahab on several occasions. Apart from this he was also accused of raping Pooja Bedi's 15 year old maid when the two celebs were allegedly dating.
Sooraj Pancholi
Like his father, Sooraj too has had his fair share of controvery after he was accused of abetting the auicide of his ex girlfriend actress Jiah Khan. The accusation was based on an alleged physical confrontation between the two on the day before her death on June 3, 2013, a break-up bouquet that he sent her. The case is still ongoing.
Fardeen Khan
In 2001, Fardeen Khan was caught in possession of cocaine. The actor pleaded guilty and denied anyintention of further sale of the drugs. He was let off after a de-addiction treatment. First-time offenders caught under Section 27, can avail of immunity from prosecution under Section 64A of NDPS Act, provided they undego de-addiction treatment.
John Abraham
In 2006, John Abraham crashed his Suzuki Hayabusa motorbike into a bicycle and injured two people. However as there were no fatal injuries, the actor was granted bail by the Bombay High Court after a Bandra court and sentenced him to 15 days of imprisonment for rash driving.
