They also criticised Congress party leaders in Goa for dilly-dallying on the post of chief minister, rather than garnering support of other elected representatives who had defeated the BJP candidates.
Speaking to The Goan, Salim Shaik said the Governor took her decision and gave the BJP a chance to form the government instead of calling the single largest party to prove its majority.
“It’s a murder of democracy. The elected representatives of Goa Forward (GF) Party have betrayed the trust of the voters who had elected them by rejecting the BJP,” said Salim.
Criticising the Congress leaders, Salim said they had the mandate to form the government but kept fighting for the post of chief minister rather than garnering the support of the independents and other elected representatives.
Condemning the act of the elected representatives of GF Party, Fely Furtado said the voters are taken for granted by the GF party and it has betrayed the feelings, sentiments and trust of the voters, who rejected the BJP.
“If the elected representatives of the GF Party have back stabbed the voters and betrayed their trust, this is a murder of democracy,” said Furtado.
“The Congress on Thursday should pull all its might and prove their majority during the floor test by keeping Sardesai aloof and use the same tactics used by the BJP,” added Furtado.
Ramesh Naik from Vaddem said the voters rejected the BJP as it failed to live up to the expectations of the people and despite that the BJP formed the government with the help of those who had earlier criticized them.
“Before election, all the candidates beg with the voters to elect them and once elected they
act as dictators by taking decisions for their selfish interest the way the elected representatives of GF party did,” said Naik.
“The Congress is also to be blamed for this fiasco. People had given them a mandate but instead of uniting to keep the BJP at bay, they were fighting among themselves for the post of chief minister,” added Naik.
Laxmi Dhakve from Vasco said people have lost faith in the elected representatives as once elected they are only interested to protect their self interest.
“We the voters are used as tissue papers by the elected representatives and once elected they fail to take the electorate into confidence before taking any decision,” she added.
