Heavy rainfall that lashed Pernem taluka on Tuesday caused trees and branches to fall on roads and on houses across various locations.
Although no casualties were reported, the incidents disrupted vehicular traffic at several places.
On receiving information about the incidents, teams from Pernem Fire and Emergency Services rushed to the affected locations. Throughout the day, the firefighters worked to cut the trees and remove fallen trees and branches, restoring access to major roads, internal routes, and residential areas. Their prompt action helped ensure the smooth movement of traffic.
The continuous rainfall had softened the ground, resulting in several trees being uprooted, while large branches snapped and fell onto roads at other locations. This caused temporary inconvenience to motorists and local residents.
