Pernem police arrested two persons after raiding a rented room in Korgao on Saturday and seizing different types of drug worth around Rs 7.65 lakh.
According to the police, the operation was carried out sometime between 2.35 am and 6.40 am in a rented room at Mainwada-Korgao.
During the search operation, the police seized hashish, LSD blot paper, ecstasy powder and ketamine powder. The estimated international market value of all these drugs is Rs 7,65,600, police said.
Police arrested Aaron Gomes (41), a native of Malad West, Mumbai but residing in Mainwada-Korgao, and Zakaria (35), a native of Wardha-Maharashtra but residing in Keri-Pernem, under the NDPS Act.
Further investigation is being conducted under the supervision of Pernem Police Inspector Nitin Halarnkar, and Pernem SDPO Sridevi B. V. (IPS) and under the guidance of North Goa SP Harishchandra Madkaikar to ascertain the source and destination of these drugs, and whether there are other individuals or networks operating in this transaction.
