Eight out of ten candidates selected for the post of ‘pharmacist’ by the Directorate of Health Services are from Sattari - the taluka which is the stronghold of Health Minister Vishwajit Rane. Around 800 candidates from different parts of the State had applied for these posts.
The selected candidates are from both, the general and reserved categories. In the general category, out of the eight selected candidates, only one candidate is from Taleigao. While out of the two candidates selected in the OBC category, one is from Sattari. A list of the selected candidates has been doing the rounds on social media.
Rane junior is the MLA of Valpoi, a constituency in Sattari, while his father, Pratapsingh Rane is the MLA of Poriem, from the same taluka. It may be recalled that in the recently released list of junior engineers selected for the electricity department, 19 out of 65 candidates were from the constituency of Power Minister Nilesh Cabral.
There was a major hue and cry by Ministers and MLAs of the ruling coalition government with regards to this selection of candidates.
