Physiotherapy Centre at CHC in Valpoi completes one year

VALPOI

The Physiotherapy Centre at the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Valpoi has completed one year of service, providing over 3,200 physiotherapy treatment sessions to residents of Sattari taluka and nearby areas.

The facility was introduced to improve access to physiotherapy services in rural areas, where patients earlier had to travel to Goa Medical College or the District Hospital in Mapusa for treatment.

Medical Officer at CHC Valpoi, Dr Vikas Naik, said nearly 3,200 patients had directly benefited from the centre in the last year. He said patients suffering from stroke, paralysis, fractures, injuries, back pain and mobility-related problems are now receiving treatment locally, reducing travel expenses and inconvenience.

He added that many patients earlier faced delays in treatment due to the distance and cost involved. According to him, the introduction of physiotherapy services at Valpoi has improved access to care in the region.

Dr Naik also acknowledged the work of physiotherapist Anuja Gawas in providing treatment to patients. Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said the government would continue efforts to strengthen healthcare services and improve facilities in rural areas.
