Highlight acute water shortage faced in Alto Pilerne for 6 months

Allegations of fund misappropriation, delays in infrastructure projects, water scarcity, and other civic issues dominated the gram sabha of the Pilerne–Marra Panchayat held on Sunday.
Villagers raised concerns over the prolonged delay in completing the panchayat ground, stating that the project has been ongoing for nearly 13 years. Due to the delay, local youth have been forced to travel to nearby areas for sports activities.
Responding to the concerns, Sarpanch Amarnath Govekar attributed the delay to technical issues.
He assured villagers that efforts are underway to complete the ground by mid-April 2026 and inaugurate it by the end of the same month.
Panch member Rupesh Naik highlighted the acute water shortage in Alto Pilerne, where residents reportedly went without water supply for six months due to a ruptured pipeline.
He said the damage occurred during the laying of underground electric cables and alleged that authorities acted only after residents protested at the PWD office.
Meanwhile, Jaysing Rane accused the panchayat of misappropriating funds in the construction of a well at Savlem and claimed that the goshala built by the panchayat is illegal.
Denying the allegations, Govekar stated that there was no misappropriation and said that anyone with complaints could approach the relevant authorities or the vigilance department.
He defended the goshala, stating that it was constructed to provide shelter to injured stray cattle and has been appreciated by various sections of society.
Villagers also demanded the establishment of a rickshaw stand in Pilerne and called for the repair and asphalting of roads in Maikawado.
The meeting began with Sarpanch Govekar welcoming attendees, while Secretary Keshav Phadte read out the minutes of the previous gram sabha. Panch member R. Rane proposed the vote of thanks.
