The ‘ZeroWaste, Inclusive, Pilerne Thursday Heritage Market’, will be held at St John the Baptist Church Courtyard in Pilerne on December 15 from 5-9 pm.
This Thursday, the Market celebrates International Migrants Day, which is on December 18. Donald Fernandes, the founder of Street Providence, Goa’s leading provider for the homeless and other abandoned street people, will be special invitee, informed Pilerne Parish Priest Fr Derick Fernandes.
To provide an ambience in which visitors can enjoy a relaxed evening, with authentic local food and beverage, the market will host a food court, live music, arts and crafts, plants, games, workshops and much more.
Homemade Christmas sweets and decorations will be on sale at the Market. Orders for sweets and other Christmas goodies, will also be undertaken.
“The market is unique because it hosts mainly local villagers, with products and produce from the village itself. ‘Vocal for local’ is the main thrust of the market, in order to strengthen the traditional, grassroots, village economy. A stall on the craft work done by the inmates of State Providence will be put up,” said Fr Fernandes.
