Pilerne-Marra Panchayat and Reis Magos ZP jointly donated sports material to the Sadguru Boys of Maina-Pilerne at the Sadguru Mutt.
The panchayat donated cricket bats, footballs, volleyballs and badminton rackets, while ZP member Rupesh Naik donated carrom boards to the Sadguru Boys.
Reis Magos ZP member Rupesh Naik, former sarpanch and sitting panch Ajay Govekar, panch Karan Govenkar, Devasthan President Akshay Govekar and youth from Maina-Pilerne were present at the function.
Speaking on the occasion, Panch Ajay Govekar said physical activity is as important as learning for the youth to keep themselves fit.
“Many boys in Pilerne have the talent and desire to participate in sports but cannot afford to purchase sports material. The Panchayat decided to donate sports material to the youth of Pilerne and Marra to promote sports culture.”
“This year, the panchayat decided to donate sports material to the Sadguru boys” said Ajay Govekar.
ZP member Rupesh Naik said many teens are engrossed with smart phones and computers, with little physical activity and donated sports equipment would enthuse youths to participate in sports activities.
President of Devasthan Akshay Govekar thanked the Pilerne panchayat and ZP member for donating sports material to the Sadguru Boys.
