Dozens of students attended a career guidance workshop organised by the Pilerne-Marra Panchayat in the panchayat hall. The resource persons were Satish Paliencar (HOD of Shipbuilding Engineering), Yashu Sharma (Professor at MES College), Nitin Rawal (Vocational Instructor at ITI), Shreya Naik (Vocational Instructor at ITI), Pankaj Singh (Professor at IHM Goa) and Priti Naik (Professor at IHM Goa). The resource persons explained in detail the career options available for students in various fields after passing SSC and addressed the various queries of the students.
Speaking on the occasion, former sarpanch and sitting panch Ajay (Amarnath) Govekar said most students are aware of courses like engineering, medicine, law and IT, but they are not aware of over 100 other career options available.
“Students get confused about the stream to opt or a profession after passing out SSC exams. Keeping this in mind, the panchayat organised a career guidance workshop to guide students to choose the right career path based on their educational and professional choices.”
Pilerne Sarpanch Sandeep Bandodkar appealed to parents not to enforce their wishes upon their children in choosing a career.
“Parents should, instead, unearth the hidden talents in their children and allow them to choose a career of their choice,” said Govekar.
Panch member Karan Govenkar was also present on the occasion, while Ajay Joshi later proposed the vote of thanks.
