PONDA
Water supply to Usgao, Tisk, Kavalem, Bandora, Borim and Ponda was restricted on Sunday after a cast iron pipe ruptured at Curti-Ponda in the wee hours of Sunday.
It may be recalled that in October many areas were affected after the main pipeline from Opa Water Treatment Plant was ruptured while undertaking work on widening the highway at Devazad-Curti, Ponda.
This is second incident where the old cast iron pipe got ruptured, leaving the
taps dry. PWD executive engineer Dilip Dhavalikar told The Goan that the incident occurred in the wee hours of Sunday and the pipe was replaced. “The ruptured pipe was replaced. We may release water by 9 pm,” Dhavalikar said. Sources informed tankers supplied water to people of affected areas.
