The Verna Industries Association (VIA) plans to set up the first housing facility for its workforce as a pilot project.
Verna Industries Association (VIA) President Pradeep Da Costa and Goa State Industries Association (GSIA) President Damodar Kochkar have confirmed that VIA may take up the first housing facility for its workforce as a pilot project.
GSIA President Damodar Kochkar speaking to reporters said that the aim was to make the Verna Industrial Estate a model estate in Goa.
“Verna Industrial Estate will become one of the unique industrial estate with no labour issues and pleasant work atmosphere. As Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced the support of workmen housing in the industrial estates, we at Verna want to make the dream come true by taking the first pilot project of creating the housing facility. We want to be a part of all the policies planned by the government for the industries,” said Kochkar.
“The pandemic has put a brake on the industries and made it realise that they are also a part of the society. We have 24 industrial estates in Goa but Verna has always been very vibrant. VIA has created such a name and position today that the government also asks our say sometimes during government decision. We want to retain this trust with the government and work in tandem to ensure Verna becomes the best industrial estate of the State,” said Kochkar.
VIA President Pradeep Da Costa speaking to reporters said that the pandemic had got everyone together and VIA core team wanted to make Verna a model industrial estate.
“We want to have more greenery, get rid of garbage, contribute to society, make VIA self-reliable and ensure revenue generation for the State. We don’t have any expectations from the government but only request them to be supportive of our works by clearing the roadblocks. We expect things to move faster and help us in serving our workforce and the people of Goa,” said Da Costa.
