Asserting that the Goa government is incompetent to combat the surge of Covid pandemic, Congress MLA Reginaldo Lourenco appealed to the government to immediately stop all nightlife in the State.
He also called for compulsory testing of all foreign arrivals and also of all people coming from Maharashtra and Delhi.
Questioning why thousands of people are moving in the State without wearing masks and why no violators are penalisednot wearing masks, Reginaldo sought to know whether the
four day 'Tiak Utsav' which got underway on Sunday is violating the norm of social distancing?
“Similarly aren’t the casinos of Goa also completely flouting social distancing norms? It is given to understand that many high profile people vaccinated twice have tested positive after visiting casinos”, he said, while further questioning why parties, especially in the night which pay no heed to social distancing, are being allowed in Goa?
“The month of April 2021 has brought a misfortune for Goa as regards surge of Covid-19 cases are concerned, after seven months the State again recorded 5000 active cases. The last 24 hours accounted for 473 new cases and four deaths due to Coronavirus, In all, till Wednesday, 857 people in Goa have lost their lives due to the pandemic. Incidentally, four Covid-19 strains -- UK, US, double-mutant from Maharashtra, and the original one are circulating in Goa," Reginaldo said.
