Plucking of lotus turns into tragedy, one meets watery grave at Curtorim

A trip to pluck lotus flowers from the Raitollem lake in Curtorim on Tuesday ended in a tragedy after a 38-year old native of Belagavi met a watery grave.

In another incident, an unknown body was found floating in a water body at Loutolim. The body was fished out by locals and police.

At Raitollem lake, deceased Shankar Vader had gone into the water body to pluck lotus flowers. Two other persons had also ventured in the water body around the same time.

Maina-Curtorim police station in-charge PI Arun Desai informed that the deceased was engaged in plucking lotus flowers to sell them at his native place at Belagavi when he accidentally slipped and drowned.

The body of the deceased was recovered on Tuesday evening. 

The police is investigating in the case.
