The approval to 38 bio-toilets in the municipality and other issues were discussed at the last meeting of the Pernem Municipal Council (PMC) during its current tenure.
The meeting, which was chaired by PMC Chairperson Shweta Kambli, discussed a number of issues and some councillors sought to know why other topics were not included for discussion.
Councillor Upendra Deshprabhu claimed that a temporary furniture stall has been built on 120 sq metres of municipal area but is yet to pay a Sopo tax of Rs 1,800 per day and demanded the removal of the stall if the tax is not paid to the PMC.
Councillor Prashant Gadekar sought to know who had given permission for a petrol pump at Tuem plateau. He was told that the Tuem panchayat had granted the necessary permit and the PMC also earns some revenue from it.
He then demanded to know how the Tuem panchayat could give permission to the project when the border dispute between PMD and the Tuem panchayat is ongoing in court.
The councillors also demanded to remove the gaddas from the footpath if they did not have licence to operate.
