PMO asks Goa, other states to increase GST collection

The Prime Minister’s Office has asked States, including Goa, to take steps to increase revenue collections and the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister P K Mishra has called a meeting with Chief Secretaries of all the States on Friday to review revenue collections in States across the country.   

As a nationwide phenomenon the GST collection of all states has drastically fallen. The Union finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman has also written to chief ministers of all States to make efforts to increase GST collections by engaging with stakeholders of all business sectors. Principal Adviser to the Prime Minister, Union Cabinet Secretary and the Union Revenue Secretary will be part of the October 11 meeting to be held via video-conferencing where a review of the status of revenue collections and various related issues will be discussed.  

Meanwhile, as a prelude to the meeting the Chief Minister has convened a conclave on Wednesday of all business stakeholders to get the feedback of economic scenario. Representatives of Goa Chambers of Commerce, CII, Goa micro industrialist organisation, Tours and Travels association representatives have been invited to the meeting. The chief Minister is supposed to take feedback from these stakeholders.
