Poinguinim, Agonda VPs awarded at National Panchayat Raj Day

The panchayats of Poinguinim and Agonda in Canacona taluka were recipients of two different awards at the Viksit Goa Panchayat Sammelan on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day 2026.
While the Poinguinim panchayat was awarded the Certificate of Excellence for achieving the highest score in Local Sustainable Development Goals (LSDGs), the Agonda panchayat was awarded the Certificate of Excellence for Outstanding Commitment and Exemplary performance in Establishing and Maintaining 'Best Waste Management Facilities'.
Poinguinim Sarpanch Savita Tawadkar received the award from Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in the presence of Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho, Poinguinim Dy Sarpanch Sunil Paingankar, panch members Satish Poinguinkar, Mahes (Govind) Naik, Pravir Bhandari, Panchayat Secretary Rajiv K Naik Gaunkar and others.
Agonda Sarpanch Nilesh Pagi received the award from Sawant in the presence of Godinho, Agonda Panchayat Secretary Amol K Naik Gaunkar and others.
Interestingly, Agonda had been only panchayat from Goa to be awarded for the National Panchayat Awards 2023 in the 'Clean and Green' category on World Environment Day 2024 for the village’s outstanding achievements in waste management.
