The Panaji police today arrested Madhav Rao Chawan, owner of the ferocious Rottweiler dog, on charges of negligence after the canine attacked and grievously injured two siblings on Sunday evening.
The accused has been booked under sections 289 (negligent conduct with respect to animal), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of IPC, a day after the victims’ father lodged a complaint.
The child rights body and angry residents of Taleigao had been demanding immediate arrest of the dog owner.
The horrific incident unfolded when the kids were out on an evening walk along with their mother. During the incident the boy sustained injuries to his face, ear and chest while the dog sunk his canines deep into the girl’s skull and neck.
