Police arrest trio for attack, molestation attempt in Vagator

One accused found to be habitual offender with criminal record

In a violent early morning incident at the Vagator helipad on Tuesday, a group of men allegedly passed obscene remarks at a woman and later attacked her friends, causing serious injuries and damaging their car. Police have arrested three persons in connection with the case.

According to Anjuna Police, the incident occurred around 6 am when a man in a white shirt allegedly made a sexually coloured remark at a woman. When the complainant and his friends objected, four others joined the accused, hurled abuses, and assaulted them.

One of the victims, Shubham, was hit on the head with a glass bottle and then pelted with a stone, sustaining serious bleeding injuries. The complainant, Rohan Palyekar (29) of Guirim, was also attacked with fist blows and a stone. The accused allegedly snatched Shubham’s gold chain worth around Rs 1.3 lakh and damaged their car, causing a loss of about Rs 20,000.

Based on Palyekar’s complaint, police registered an offence under Sections 75(3), 352, 118(2), 125(a), 134, and 324(5) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

Following technical surveillance, police arrested three accused: S. Mousheel (24), native of Bengaluru; Saurav Koranga (24), native of Uttarakhand; and Dharam Upreti (18), native of Mumbai. All reside at Sal Marinho, De Mello Vaddo, Anjuna. Police said Mousheel is a habitual offender with a prior case at Indiranagar Police Station, Bengaluru, under Sections 399 and 402 of the IPC for criminal conspiracy and preparation for dacoity.
