Police book Sancoale woman for Rs 3L fraud on pretext of giving job

In a case of alleged fraud, Vasco Police on Friday registered an offence against a Sancoale-based woman, Diksha Talavanekar, for allegedly cheating a woman, Mina Gurudas Chodankar, of Rs 3 lakh on the pretext of offering a government job.

The incident reportedly took place in November 2019 at Vasco, during which the accused promised to secure a government position for her but failed to fulfil their promise.

According to the complaint filed by Chodankar, a resident of Mogabai, Kantem Baina, the accused induced her to pay Rs 3 lakh under the pretence of securing her a job as a peon in the Government School at Vasco.

However, after receiving the money, the accused allegedly neither provided her with the promised job nor returned the funds, amounting to cheating. The offence has been registered under section 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Vasco Police are carrying out further investigation in the case.
